Band Director - Jennifer Swope

Mrs. Jennifer Swope is the 7-12 band director for the Carroll Band program. Originally from Eastern Iowa, she graduated from Davenport Central High School where her passion for music education was first developed. Her senior year, she was a TA for Mr. Alex Wilga and the freshmen band. During her time in high school, she was the drum major of the Marching Blue Devils, participated in color guard, concert band, jazz band, and full orchestra. She was also a member of the Quad City Youth Symphony Orchestra where she played bassoon and the Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Youth Jazz Band where she played piano.
Her freshman year of college was spent at West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia where she studied bassoon with Dr. Lynn Hileman and played in the symphonic band. She then transferred to Iowa State University where she graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Instrumental Music Education in December of 2015. While at Iowa State, she studied bassoon with Kevin Judge and participated in the Wind Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Michael Golemo and the Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Dr. Jacob Harrison. She was a member of Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity where she served as the chapter's President her senior year and the Iowa State NAfME chapter where she served as both the school's chapter President and as the state collegiate President during her senior year. She was also a member of Kappa Alpha Theta.
Mrs. Swope student taught in the Marshalltown Community School District. There she taught high school band under the direction of Mr. Bret Lee and worked with the marching band, top concert band and jazz 1. In addition to the high school, she also taught 5-6 band and 6 grade jazz band under the direction of Mr. Paul Sibbel. She also worked with Mr. Brett Umthun and Dr. Michael Albarracin while in Marshalltown.
She is in her fifth year of teaching for the Carroll school district. Mrs. Swope currently resides in Dedham with her husband Tyler, twin toddlers Beau and Charlotte, and their dogs Diesel and Vise. In her spare time, she likes to cheer on the Cyclone football and wrestling teams, hunt and fish with her husband and father-in-law, watch CoCoMelon, and play with the dogs.
