Ensembles
Our many successful ensembles are a result of several factors; a supportive parent community, dedicated faculty and staff, and
motivated, energetic students. Read below to find out about the different ensembles that students have the opportunity to participate in throughout the course of the year.

Concert Band
Concert band represents the core of the band curriculum. As such, every student is required to participate in concert band. In concert band, students will perform music from a wide range of the wind band literature, including marches, concert works, popular works, and even some jazz. The concert band performs a Christmas concert, the Parade of Bands, and the Spring Fine Arts Concert.
A special component of our concert band is the annual Prism Concert. This is a 100% student led performance. Students select their performance groups and what piece they want to play. They then rehearse on their own. This concert takes place in February.

Marching Band
Marching band is our most visible ensemble and participation is required of all band students. The marching band performs at home football games, performing energetic and entertaining shows. The marching band also performs in parades and other special events throughout the year. Participation in marching band is a requirement for all band members.
Jazz Band
There is currently one jazz ensemble at Carroll High School. Jazz band will meet on Tuesday and Thursday mornings throughout the year. Additional rehearsals may be scheduled once rehearsals begin.
Chamber Ensembles
Chamber ensembles are smaller ensembles which allow students the opportunity to develop their musicianship to a higher level by performing more challenging music with more individual responsibility. Our chamber ensembles vary from year to year, but often include Flute Choir, Clarinet Choir, Brass Choir, Brass Quintet, Woodwind Quintet, and Percussion Ensemble. These ensembles have multiple opportunities to perform and are showcased on our annual Prism Concert.
Pep Band
Pep band is our second most visible ensemble in terms of community awareness. This ensemble exists to support the girls and boys basketball teams of Carroll High School and to provide extra performance opportunities in a non-traditional setting. The Pep Band will perform at several girls and boys basketball games throughout the course of the basketball season. Like marching band, participation is required.
